ooh,

Which patch should I use, I'm guessing the most recent, or would I have to use more than one? As I now know that a patch is specific to one purpose, so there could be multiple patches I'd have to apply.

Hi again! lol

So, do I apply the patch file, then compile Blender, then add the modifier .py and .pyc files after compiling?

Thanks so much again! :D

Hi Todd,

Thanks for replying! :)

This will be my first time creating a custom version of Blender, so I'm not 100% up to speed with everything yet.

As I understand it the Ocean Sim modifier will 'live' in the modifier Python files, but are there any other files, and unique attributes in other files, needed specifically for the Ocean Sim?
I'm guessing, since there will be no compiling involved, I could just copy the Ocean Sim class (or the modifier .py and .pyc files) to my custom version?

Thanks again!

Hi Aaron, there really isn't an official svn repository right now. You can find the latest patch, plus some older builds on our <a href="http://savetheoceansim.com/builds/" rel="nofollow">builds page</a>. The patch has been submitted to the Patch Tracker at projects.blender.org, and is awaiting review for trunk inclusion. Unless that process takes a really long time, we probably won't be posted new builds here.

@aflocka, thanks for asking. The development work to get the Ocean Sim tools working is finished, but however, we need to spend some time getting it compatible with the latest release of Blender, and then we will submit a request to have it reviewed for acceptance into the main Blender trunk. Matt Ebb, the original dev is totally swamped with work at this time, so he is unable to put time into right now. I'm just waiting on a to-do list from him, and then will be looking for another Blender dev to assist with the code cleanup that needs to be completed.

Cheers,

Todd

I remember hearing about this ocean sim a while back but hadn't kept up with what was happening with it.

Keep up the good work! It looks great!
